The Central Issue

The frequency of drink driving offences and related accidents has been increasing in recent times. More people have been killed by drink drivers, some of them repeat offenders. Recent public debate has been over whether the 'stiff' penalties for drink drivers deserve that description anymore. It's time to take this debate into the classroom.

Are the penalties for drink driving too lenient?
Does this form of punishment commensurate with the crime? Does it need to be revised?
